Inside a parked Toyota SUV, a man was found dead in Edo

On Thursday, December 21, in Benin City, Edo State, an unidentified guy was found dead inside his Toyota SUV near the Ikpokpan intersection.
The dead man was seated behind the wheel, buckled up tight in his seatbelt, and most remarkably, there were no obvious wounds that would have suggested a forceful attack.

After investigating the event, local law enforcement discovered that the man's car interior and pants pockets had been looted, which raised suspicions of a possible robbery.

The case took an odd turn as detectives at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section, Edo Police Command, battle to identify the dead and get in touch with his family in light of the phone's disappearance, which is thought to have been taken by the perpetrators.

Chidi Nwabuzor, a spokesman for the state police command, verified the occurrence and provided information on the few evidence that detectives had at their disposal.

The lone traceable lead turned up in the form of an Eromon David hotel receipt.

The body was found inside a dark blue Toyota 4Runner registered in Lagos under the license plate FKJ-39 FB.

"As the inquiry progressed, it became clear that the culprits had tampered with the deceased man's pants pockets in addition to looting the car. The disappearance of the phone and valuables raised the possibility of a targeted robbery.

Three copies of accommodation receipts with the name of the University of Benin were found, which further complicated matters. The name on the receipts was revealed to be Dr. Eromon David upon closer inspection. He stated, "Despite this development, the deceased's identity is still unknown, and investigators are actively trying to determine the cause of death."

Nwabuzor did, however, reiterate that the investigation is still underway and will address the incident's wider issues in addition to determining the events leading up to the man's death.
