It is scary how the announcement by the government that No Ghana Card No. March 2024 Salary has empowered fraudsters to start a new scheme to defraud unsuspecting bank account holders working in the public sector.


Audios circulating indicate that those who are banking with GCB, ADB, etc. are more likely to be defrauded.

They are calling from the Accra main branch and will get every detail from you. In addition, they are sending messages using Telco service providers, and the messages are so accurate that it is difficult for customers to tell that the fraudsters are not real.

Some bank customers have already fallen victim and have given out their credentials provided by their banks and MTN to these fraudsters.

With your bank details and online pins in the hands of these fraudsters, they are likely to empty your bank account before you know it. You are advised to visit your bank and change your pins, as well as protect your account.

Go to your telco if anyone has called you in recent times purporting to be calling from your bankers, and get your pin reset as soon as possible. You can also reset your Momo pin through the self-service on your Momo account.

Fraudsters have started calling unsuspecting Ghanaians. All government workers are in danger if they do not take steps to verify and recheck the linking of their Ghana card to their bank accounts.

Whether you linked your Ghana card a year or so ago or not at all,

You are advised to walk to your nearest bank branch and check if your card has been successfully linked to your bank account. Do not provide any critical details of yours to anyone on line for the purposes of linking or verifying your bank account and associated Ghana card.

Fraudsters are calling to find out if you have merged your Ghana card with your bank account.

The call has numbers that are verified with banks.

All banks, including GCB, GT Bank, United Bank for Africa, Fidelity, EcoBank, and the rest, have constantly warned their customers not to.

Share their online app PINs with anyone.
Do not use your phone number or date of birth as your password.
Do not write your PIN or password to your bank account app or Momo account.
If you suspect someone has illegally gotten access to your security pins and credentials, contact the bank or MTN.

Not that the criminals are sending SMS alerts that look perfect like a message from a bank.

The various banks also need to help their customers by sending them updated if they notice that the customer has not linked his or her Ghana card to their account (s) with the bank. This will ensure only those who have such issues visit the banks to correct. This will reduce the queues in the banks and help speed up service delivery.
