The case of Deborah Seyram Adablah, who sued her former lover, Ernest Nimako, for breach of contract, has been dismissed by the Accra High Court.
The court ruled that it cannot enforce an agreement that was made during an immoral relationship.
Therefore, Deborah Adablah's claim against her ex-lover, the former Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of First Atlantic, was rejected.
She was also ordered to pay costs of Ghc 10,000.
Graphic Online reported that the judge said: "The Court should not be asked to approve a relationship that was based on an immoral act ...'You cannot get compensation for something you have done in an immoral act'"
Deborah had taken her former lover to court, alleging that he had reneged on promises he made to her while they were dating.
Nimako promised to buy her a car, pay for her rent for three years, give her a monthly allowance of GH¢3,000, divorce his wife and marry her, and provide a lump sum to start a business.
The plaintiff said that the car was initially registered in Nimako's name, but he later took it back, leaving her without a car after only a year.
She also said that Nimako only paid for one year of rent, instead of the three years he had promised.
Adablah asked the court to transfer the ownership of the car to her, and to order the defendant to pay her the lump sum to enable her to start a business to support herself.
