English-born Ghanaian young defender Jarell Quansah impressed on his Liverpool debut against Newcastle United in the English Premier League on Sunday.
The 20-year-old, who has emerged through the Liverpool ranks at the club's academy, was named on the bench by Jürgen Klopp for the Premier League clash with Newcastle United.
With 77 minutes on the clock and the 10-man Reds still losing 1-0 – following Anthony Gordon’s goal and Virgil van Dijk’s red card – Quansah was sent on at centre-back in place of Joel Matip.
Quansah played his part in a sensational turnaround that saw Liverpool dig in to keep the Magpies at bay before Uruguay international Darwin Nunez netted a double to win the game.
He is eligible to represent four countries namely England, Barbados, Scotland and Ghana through ancestry.
Quansah has already represent England at the U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 level. He remains eligible to play for either Ghana, Barbados or Scotland in future.
He was a member of the England U20 team at the played at 2023 U20 FIFA World Cup in Argentina
