Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey has been named the Man of the Match in the Europa League clash between Brighton and Hove Albion and Olympique Marseille.
The versatile full-back delivered an outstanding performance as Brighton rallied from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw at the Stade Velodrome in France.
Lamptey garnered 47.9% of the votes, outperforming competitors Pascal Gross, Jan Paul Van Hecke, and Joel Veltman to claim the award.
The 23-year-old player recently returned from an injury and has been in excellent form for Brighton. This marks his second Man of the Match accolade, having previously received the honor in a Premier League game against Manchester United.
In the thrilling Thursday night match, Chancel Mbemba and Jordan Veretout scored within a minute to put Marseille ahead by two goals. However, Pascal Gross converted a penalty to narrow the gap before Joao Pedro completed the comeback with just two minutes remaining.
Lamptey has been selected for the Black Stars' squad in preparation for the upcoming international friendlies against the USA and Mexico next week.
