Kwesi Pratt To Finish Memoir And Clear Distortions In History

Kwesi Pratt Jr, the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, has disclosed that he intends to finish writing his 200-page memoir, which will detail some of his experiences from 1990 to 1992 and dispel some misconceptions about those years.

The Journalist claimed that the years being discussed in the book, was the period he met Prof. Adu Boahen, and the two of them formed the movement for freedom and justice. He highlighted that in the book, there are plans to cover that time frame, up till the time political activity restrictions were lifted.

“I’m trying to cover that period because of the many distortions in that history, and I think it is important to clear those distortions. For example, when you listen to some people, the narrative is that Prof Adu Boahen broke the culture of silence and he formed the movement of freedom and justice. That narrative is wrong. Its completely wrong, there’s no basis. And there are many other narratives as well.

“So, in the 200-page memoir, I could’ve have finished about a month ago but the international security got so turbulent that I had to spend some time in China, go through Russia…I had to travel through a few places, South Africa and so on…Giving lectures, teaching and so on, and that is what did not enable me to finish. And I came back home and then got thrust into this whirlwind of a birthday and so on. So, after that, if I can sit down for three weeks, I think I can finish the book.”

Kwesi Pratt Advises On Listening To The Body
Speaking about his health, Kwesi Pratt Jr. stated that he did nothing special to be in such good health and strength at the age of 70 because he did not even exercise. He said that he had damaged his health in every way possible, even going so far as to smoke two packets of cigarettes per day in the past.

Furthermore, he asserted that all he did for all those years was to listen to his body because he was aware that everyone’s body alerted them on things. He claimed that after learning to listen to his body, he never made a health-related mistake. He acknowledged that his health was not the best at the moment, but he lived a great life and still does, by paying attention to his body and following its cues.

“And if you check, one of the things I used to suffer from is no other case, than cold. For many people, when they have cold or influenza, they go on antibiotics. When I have a severe cold, a few puffs of cigarette relieve me considerably. But I know it’s not for everybody because all our bodies are not the same. We have different constitutions. What works for my brother…will not work for me or you.

“The important thing is to listen to your body all the time because I don’t exercise. I don’t remember the last time I exercised, I don’t. But I suspect that my whole life is still an exercise. I don’t really smoke but once in a while…But we are told to sleep a lot with a minimum of 6 or 8 hours. There are times I don’t sleep at all and I can go for 24 hours without sleeping. Normally, I sleep for 4 hours and I’m okay, so I don’t know whether we sleeping a lot really works or not.”
