Vote against candidates who preach hate - Napo

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has asked delegates to vote against any candidate who preaches hate and party disunity.

A similar statement made by the wife of the Vice President, Samira Bawumia, was perceived to be targeting Kennedy Agyapong and drew a reaction from the Assin Central lawmaker’s camp.

According to him, party members should guide against any speech that has the tendency to create confusion or division within the party.

“I am telling you that very soon you will hear a lot of tribal and religious politics.

“Religion and tribal background should never be entertained to divide the people of Ghana,” he stated.

He pointed out that any Reverend Minister who says one should not be voted for because of his or her religion or tribe is not a true man of God.

Dr Opoku Prempeh was speaking during presentation of award to him by artisans in Manhyia South Constituency and also commissioning of ultra-modern Manhyia South NPP Office in Ash Town, Kumasi.

He told NPP members gathered to be careful not to elect any candidate who would bring confusion or division in the party.

He said any of the four aspirants who will be elected would perform better than former President John Mahama.

He, therefore, called on the party members not to insult anyone ahead of the presidential primaries and after to enable them have a united NPP.

On the issue of electricity, he said the light has been on in spite of recent power outages as a result of inadequate gas supply.

He admitted that there are challenges for which they need to put in place measures to save the situation.

But he cautioned Ghanaians not to allow themselves to be deceived by the opposition NDC to vote them back to “destroy what the NPP has been achieved”.
