Disturbing video of Ghanaian police officers begging and kneeling to ‘galamsey’ boys causes stir

A video on the internet depicts the helpless state of some Ghana Police Service officers begging and kneeling for illegal miners, or galamsey boys.

The video's content tells a story of familiarity between local police officers and the boys whose occupation was illegal gold mining.

After attempting to make an arrest, the officers were stopped by these boys, who appeared to wield considerable power and influence.

At one point, one of the helpless cops began appealing to their conscience, using their relationship as a bargaining chip to persuade them to compromise.

One of the police officers' uniforms was seized, and in order to avoid further punishment, the officer was forced to kneel before them while pleading vehemently.

Many people expressed their outrage after seeing a police officer bow and show respect to civilians who they were supposed to arrest for illegal activities.

A police minivan was stuck in the mud at the scene, which was reportedly in the Western Region. The video has sparked outrage on social media.
