After an NDC member is killed in an accident, Mahama suspends his campaign in the Assin North district.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has suspended his campaign in the Assin North Constituency due to the accidental death of an NDC member.

It follows a collision involving a pickup truck transporting journalists to document the event.

In a statement, he said he was suspending his campaign for a few hours to visit the accident victims and the family of the deceased.

"I had to suspend my campaign in Assin North for approximately two hours in order to visit injured sympathizers who were involved in an accident following our engagement at Dansame.

"Unfortunately, one of our comrades who avidly participated in the program has passed away. Our condolences to her family," read a tweet posted by the former president on June 17, 2023.

According to a report first shared by GHOne TV, the vehicle crashed on its route to cover former President John Dramani Mahama's campaign in the Assin North Constituency.

The former president is campaigning for the ousted Member of Parliament (phone) for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, in the June 27, 2023 by-election.

It is unclear whether or not the vehicle engaged in the accident was part of Mahama's convoy.

However, GhOne has removed the tweet.
