Former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen has withdrawn from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidacy.
Tuesday, September 5: In a statement, he announced his withdrawal.
Mr. Kyerematen placed third in the conference of super delegates held on Saturday, August 26.
Announcing his withdrawal from the November 4 primary election, he stated, "The level of intimidation unleashed on a significant number of Delegates at various Voting Centers across the sixteen regions is unprecedented in the history of our Party."
"Additionally, the fact that my Polling Agent in the North East region has suffered severe damage to his eyesight as a result of his bold and courageous efforts to ensure compliance with the very rules and regulations for the conduct of the elections as approved by the Presidential Elections Committee will remain a black mark in the history of internal elections within the Party.
"This incident and the numerous acts of violence and collusion that have been reported at other voting centers are abhorrent, reprehensible, and despicable. I am committed to and value the welfare of my coworkers and employees, and I will always advocate for their best interests."
