Ashanti Region: Three People Including NADMO Officer Swept Alway By Flood

Three people, including a member of the National Disaster Management Organisation NADMO, have been verified dead and one is missing following heavy rains in parts of the Ashanti Region on Friday evening.

According to reports, two of the three were swept away by devastating floods and were found deceased on Saturday morning, while the third is still missing.

Sulemana Ahmed, a NADMO officer, was tragically carried away along with his motorcycle in Duase, located in the Kumasi Metropolitan Area, on his way home from work.

Prince Osei, Assembly Member for the Duase Electoral Area, Jacob Agyenim Boateng that residents of the area discovered his body in a sewer early Saturday morning.

Sulemana Ahmed, who was in his forties at the time, was not only an officer with NADMO, but also a former organizer for the National Democratic Congress in the Old Tafo Constituency.

Atofoa Incident.

A individual who has yet to be identified perished after being swept away by floodwaters in Atafoa, Kumasi City.



According to reports, the tragic incident occurred when four people traversing the Owabi River at Atafoa in the bucket of a KIA truck fell into the heavily flooded river.

One of the surviving victims stated that four of the six people in the vehicle leapt out at the point where the flood was dragging the vehicle into the river.

According to the victim, two of the four were spared, while the other two were swept away by the river.

One individual has been discovered deceased, while the other remains missing.

Offinso casualty

In the Ashanti Region, another male in his late 30s was discovered dead at Offinso Mpeha.

According to locals, the deceased went missing during a heavy rainstorm and was subsequently discovered dead with his corpse buried in sand in a gutter.

The victim's bodies have been delivered to the morgue for autopsy.
