Black Sharif Is This Year's VGMA Artiste Of The Year Due To His Extraordinary Efforts - Ras Kuuku

A fellow Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall musician has made a passionate case for why Black Sherif should win the most coveted award at the forthcoming Ghana Music Awards.

The Artiste of the Year, the VGMA's highest honor, is given to the musician who has had the greatest impact on the music industry over the past year.

Ras Kuuku stated in an exclusive interview on TV3 New Day that the performer of "Oil On My Head" had a greater chance of winning the Artiste of the Year award, but it would be difficult for him to win the Reggae song or Reggae Artiste award due to the fierce competition in the category.

This time, we have labored diligently.

This year will not be awarded to a non-Reggae/Dancehall artist, he revealed.

RasKuuku, who praised Black Sherif's success, attributed it to his diligent work and commitment to his craft.

"Let me tell you that Black Sherif is winning Artiste of the Year because he worked hard, but when it comes to the Reggae side, we [Ras Kuuku and his team] worked harder," he remarked.

According to RasKuuku, he was on the precipice of winning at least one of the awards nominated for by his album "3 3 & 1 (Miensa Miensa Ne Baako)' at the upcoming VGMA.

"You are aware that Ras Kuuku is the genre's most accomplished artist.

If not Reggae Artist of the Year, there will be a Reggae/Dancehall song on Puom"
