Black Sherif The "Youth Chief"

Black Sherif enskinned ‘Nachin Naa’ or ‘Chief of Youth’ in Tamale, Northern Region, Ghana
20-year-old rapper and songwriter Black Sherif has been enskinned as a chief in Tamale.

The ‘Soja’ hitmaker has received the title ‘Nachin Naa’ or ‘Chief of Youth’ in Tamale by the authority of the Chiefs and people of the Tamale traditional area.

In a video of the traditional ceremony to recognise his enskinment, a smock or batakari was put on him and after, a hat, akin to what is done to the chiefs of the area.

A beaming Sherif, a native of the mining community of Konongo in the Ashanti Region, received the honour at the Dakpema Palace in Tamale on Monday, 10 October 2022.

The ceremony’s audience of chiefs and townspeople, mostly sitting and looking up at him, cheered him on before he sat among them.

Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, Black Sherif, a Muslim, is currently on tour in northern Ghana after the Thursday, October 6, release of his debut 14-track album ‘The Villain I Never Was’ which has received wide acclaim
