Breaking News: Ghana Champions Medeama Granted License For 2023-24 CAF Interclub Competitions

After meeting all Club Licensing criteria, Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have been granted a license to compete in the 2023-24 CAF Champions League.

The First Instance Body (FIB) evaluated Medeama's application based on the five CAF-established criteria.

The club satisfied all Sporting, Legal, Infrastructure, Personnel, and Administrative Criteria.Even though the club specified on their application that it had no overdue payables to employees as of 31 March 2023, the committee received evidence indicating that the club owed a former player money as of 31 March 2023.

The committee also received evidence that the debt had been COMPLETELY resolved as of 31 May 2023.The club's application for a license was approved because it met all of the requirements.

The FIB unanimously authorized Medeama's license application for the 2023-2024 CAF Interclub competitions.Medeama reached a partnership agreement with Fiase Golden Royal FC as the club's designated women's team during the course of the week, which is also a requirement for the license.

The club from Tarkwa will compete in continental football for the first time since the 2016 season, when they reached the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

They were in the same division as MO Bejaia, TP Mazembe, and Young Africans when they eliminated Mamelodi Sundowns from the playoffs.By: Nuhu Adams
