Several residents in the Western North Region's Bibiani Anhweaso Bekwai municipality lost their residences to a fire over the weekend.
The incident resulted in the destruction of five of the thirteen chambers in the affected building.
In addition to the structural damage, the fire consumed numerous valuables, including educational certificates, mattresses, refrigerators, televisions, and apparel.
An eyewitness recounted that he observed thick smoke emanating from one of the chambers, but his initial attempts to extinguish the fire were futile.
Despite his quick response, the rapid spread of the fire overwhelmed his efforts.
After a failed attempt, bystanders were able to contact the fire department, which arrived shortly thereafter.
The affected tenants were summoned to the scene, but they were unable to salvage any items.
Richmond Appiah, the Bibiani Fire Service's Public Relations Officer, delivered a stern reminder of the significance of fire safety to the community.
He stressed the importance of residents turning off all household appliances before departing their homes.
These proactive measures, he emphasized, play a crucial role in reducing the likelihood of fire incidents.
