Ghana's Strongest Competitor Meets the Strongest Man in the World

Iron Biby, the strongest man in the world, met Evans Tovieku, a competitor in the 'Ghana's Strongest' 2023 competition, on June 3, 2023.Tovieku was also named the strongest male in the Ahafo and Ashanti regions in 2016 and 2018, respectively.Biby, who is from Burkina Faso, is the 2018 and 2019 World Log Lift Champion.

In addition, he maintains the Guinness World Record for the most overhead presses performed in one minute (per person).He holds the world record for lifting 229 kg of logs at SSE Hydro in Glasgow on September 18, 2021.He was in Ghana over the weekend when Tovieku, other candidates, and the current 'Ghana's Strongest' men, Godfred Akolbila and Abass Salu, paid him a visit at his hotel in Accra.The meeting with the World Champion was an exhilarating experience.

Iron Biby gave the young idols some advice, urging them to exert more effort because greater things were in store for them.Tovieku aspires to be named Ghana's Strongest this year, and his performance thus far has been very encouraging.Boateng Ameyaw, a member of Tovieku's management team, stated that he wouldn't be surprised if Evans won this year's Ghana's Strongest competition, adding that his perseverance and hard work are progressively paying off.At the 2014 World Power Lifting Championship (junior class), Biby placed first in both the bench press (217.5 kg) and dead lift (307.5 kg) at the age of 22.He placed fourth in 2018 at the Giants Live World Tour Finals in Manchester and the African Record 213 kg Log Lift Personal Best.Again, he won first place at the 2018 World Log Lift Championship (213 kg) and third place at the Ultimate Strongman Junior World Championships.He finished fifth at the 2019 Giants Live World Tour Finals in Manchester.On July 18, 2020, he performed an unofficial overhead lift of 260 kg (573,3 lb) and a 217 kg/477,4 lb Axle Press (World Record) at the 2021 Strongman Classic held at Royal Albert Hall.
