Gyakye Quayson is being used by NDC, he has written his political obituary – Owusu Bempah

Ernest Owusu Bempah, the Deputy Director of Communications for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), stated that the deposed Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, who will be running in the by-election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has allowed himself to be used by the NDC. Quayson will be running in the by-election on the ticket of the NDC.

Mr. Owusu Bempah is of the opinion that Mr. Gyakye Quasyon is engaging in actions that amount to political suicide.

In an interview that took place on Wednesday, June 7, Mr. Owusu Bempah made the following statement: "Gyakye Quayson has written his political obituary, and he will be buried and nailed in the coffin politically." He has made it possible for the inept leadership of the NDC to exploit him in their efforts. Like Adumu Sakande, he will spend his life behind bars at some point.

"Frankly speaking, I was astonished to hear that this man allowed himself to be used again as a poodle to satisfy their political whims and caprices, which will come back to hound him. I was shocked to hear that this man allowed himself to be used like a poodle.
It is beyond my ability to comprehend how he could possibly have the audacity to run for office again after being expelled from Parliament for flagrantly violating the constitution. The question that arises in my mind is whether or not this man should be expected to have greater judgment. Someone who has previously called Canada home would choose to put their own lives in danger rather than those of their families. Due to the fact that he was a Canadian citizen, he was disqualified in both 2012 and 2016. The National Democratic Congress is the only political party that will embrace such recklessness, lawlessness, and disdain for the rule of law.

In the meantime, delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Assin North Constituency in the Central Region have chosen for Charles Opoku to lead their party in the by-elections that will take place on June 27. The voting was carried out by an overwhelming majority.

In the primaries that were held on Wednesday, June 7, Mr. Opoku received 397 of the total valid votes cast, defeating his lone opponent, Frederick Freeman Amoah-Kyei, who received 136 votes. The primaries were held in Ghana.

National executives, led by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, were present at the primaries, which were conducted at the Church of Pentecost at Akonfodi in Assin Bereku.

After the ballots were counted and sorted out, supporters of Charles Opoku erupted in jubilation given the large number of ballots that were on the desk of the election officers.

As soon as the results were announced, they became giddy with excitement and began to congratulate their chosen candidate.

Prior to the elections, the two candidates were required to take an oath of allegiance to the NPP in order to assist in the party's efforts to reclaim the Assin North seat.

In the race for the seat, Charles Opoku will compete against James Gyakye Quayson, who is running for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Gyakye Quayson won the seat in the elections held in 2020 by defeating the incumbent, Ms. Abena Durowaa Mensah.

One of his constituents, however, took issue with his election and argued before the Cape Coast High Court that he had not relinquished his Canadian citizenship before he was nominated for office. His election was overturned.

The ruling was upheld by the Supreme Court, and an order was issued to Parliament directing them to remove his name from any and all documents.
