Gyakye Quayson petitions GLC against Godfred Dame for “professional misconduct”

James Gyakye, a member of parliament for Assin North, has submitted a petition to the General Legal Council (GLC) alleging "professional misconduct" on the part of Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame.

On June 16, 2023, while his lawyer was bringing to the attention of the court that he was a candidate in the Assin North parliamentary by-election, he accused Mr. Dame of using abusive language against him. He stated that the incident occurred during the course of the conversation.

He stated, "This gratuitous insult on the part of the Attorney-General was without any basis and had no place in the trial and, I am advised by my lawyers, is contrary to the Rules of Professional Conduct of lawyers." The Attorney-General had made the remark.
