I Was Depressed Because People Abused Me & Called Me A Monster & A Cheetah - Lady

Catherine Oluwatomisin, who was born with freckles on her epidermis, has described how she has managed to persevere despite the taunts of her peers.

During an interview with the Punch Newspaper, the girl stated, "When I was younger, I didn't feel anything; however, by the time I was eight, nine, or ten years old, the way people reacted to me in my environment affected me, causing me to have low self-esteem."

"They typically insult me by labeling me a monster, a cheetah, and remarking, "Look at her body; it is so annoying." Used to make me weep and sadden me. "I was depressed during that time, I will not lie."

"In JSS3, everyone grew accustomed to me. We were comrades, and they were not afraid of me." Something occurred in the past year. When I went to buy something one day, some children told me that they were afraid to approach me for fear of catching the same illness.

Catherine continued by describing how she went home and vented her wrath on her parents, who brought an adult with the same condition to sensitize her and convince her that she is perfectly fine as she is.

In addition, Catherine's mother described how she witnessed the condition when Catherine was an infant. She stated that when she visited the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, the doctors advised her to apply sunscreen to her infant daughter's skin, alleging that the condition was caused by sun exposure.
