I admire COP Alex Mensah for his skills but he should follow the chain of command in the Police – Norman

Dr. Ishmael Norman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Security, Disaster and Emergency Studies, has requested that COP George Alex Mensah, Director of Operations for the Ghana Police Service, follow the chain of command in order to have his concerns addressed.

Dr. Norman has expressed his admiration for COP Alex Mensah's abilities, but he has emphasized that in order to address issues, Mensah must adhere to the organizational framework of the police.

His comments came after COP Alex Mensah indicated that while there is no bad blood between him and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, there are occasionally professional disputes between them at the top level. His comments come after COP Alex Mensah said that while there is no bad blood between him and the IGP, there are occasionally professional disagreements between them.

COP Because "I speak my mind," according to Alex Mensah's description of himself, he is a straightforward and open person.

This information was disclosed by him on Thursday, August 31, when he testified in front of a special committee of seven individuals that had been established by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to investigate the validity of a recording that had been stolen from the IGP.

He was captured along with some top police officials and the former Northern Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Daniel Bugri Naabu, in a conversation in which they were purportedly conspiring to remove the IGP prior to the 2024 elections. He was arrested alongside the other individuals.

On the audio, it appeared as though the IGP was carrying out the orders of former President John Dramani Mahama, who has indicated that he intends to maintain him in his position.

The substance of the tape has been confirmed by Chief Bugri Naabu; however, COP Alex Mensah has rejected the content of the tape, claiming that portions of it have been "edited." In spite of this, he stated that he had absolutely no complaints about the incumbent IGP.

Dr. Ishamel Norman made the following statement: "The two of them do not see eye to eye. He is a lawyer who believes that he has the right to speak the truth to power, but the way that he is going about it is not the proper way."

"When you are working in an organization such as the police, you are required to follow the chain of command, and you are required to do things in the proper manner. Working to get things done in a way that bypasses the line of command is not the correct way to do things.

"I respect him for his abilities; he is very skilled in providing answers to questions; however, I believe that the overall strategy is flawed."
