Mr. Drew, a Ghanaian music sensation, has stated that he does not like being referred to as "Ghana's Chris Brown."
In a recent interview with Kojo Manuel on YFM, the Highlife and Afrobeats musician and dancer voiced his thoughts on the similarities between himself and the legendary R&B singer.
According to the 'Superman' singer, he prefers to be addressed as Mr Drew rather than the Ghanaian version of anyone.
"Many people refer to me as Ghana's Chris Brown, but I prefer they stop. "I just want to be Mr. Drew, that's all," he stated.
Born Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, Mr Drew, 26, said being linked with Chris Brown put a lot of pressure on him and may force him to do things he didn't want to do.
However, Mr Drew was quick to acknowledge the ‘SuperHero’ singer as a great personality and artist who has had an impact on his own career and his global influence.
He also emphasised that he was focused on carving out his own unique identity and establishing himself on a large scale.
“Chris Brown has already established himself in the world and on a very large scale, so that’s what I’m also trying to do for my career. But don’t call me Ghana’s Chris Brown. I want to be known as Mr. Drew,” Mr. Drew asserted.
Chris Brown and Mr Drew have not met yet but it remains to be seen how that would pan out if the two met on a joint or collaborated on a dance challenge.
