According to private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, cannot be removed notwithstanding the public sympathy he has garnered following his appearance before a seven-member ad hoc committee investigating a leaked recording concerning him.
According to Mr. Kpebu, the court of public opinion favors Dr. Akuffo Dampare.
He stresses, however, that the IGP is not a saint and that the issues raised at the committee meetings must be addressed.
"As for IGP Dampare, we all know he has done a good job, and from the way the conversation is going, naturally, he can't be removed anymore," he stated on Saturday, September 16.
"The President, it is too late in the day because the public is not interested right now."
