Imo Killings; Police Officers Focus On What They Will Acquire During Roadblock Duty - Lawrence Alobi

Former Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Lawrence Alobi, stated that Nigerian police officers in Imo State must always be on high alert due to the frequent assaults on police officers in the state.

In Nigeria, according to Lawrence Alobi, police officers are more concerned with what they will acquire during roadblock duty than they are with their own safety. Lawrence Alobi argued that a lack of training has negatively impacted the performance of Nigerian police officers.

This statement was made by Lawrence Alobi in response to the recent murder of five police officers and two other individuals in Imo State by unidentified assailants. According to Lawrence Alobi, the Nigerian government and police leadership should prioritize the training of police officers.

Lawrence Alobi disclosed that in the majority of instances, assailants are interested in the firearms of police officers, and the only way they can obtain the firearms is by killing the officers. The police officers who were murdered in Imo State, according to Lawrence Alobi, should not have entered the restaurant at the same time. He argued that some of them ought to have been on guard.
