Mahama leads NDC to mourn with Kufuor over wife’s passing

Former President John Dramani Mahama led a team from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to former President John Agyekum Kufuor and his family on Wednesday, October 4, to express condolences over the death of former First Lady Theresa Kufuor.

Mr Mahama, who was accompanied by his wife, former First Lady Lordina, stated that the dead was affectionately regarded as 'Mother of the Nation' during her stint as First Lady because to her dignified attitude.

The delegation included Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Mahama Iddrisu, Chair of the NDC Council of Elders, members of the NDC Council of Elders, and the party's Political Committee.

Mr. Mahama signed the Book of Condolence on behalf of the National Democratic Congress.



"We are all saddened by the death of our respected mother, former First Lady Madam Theresa Kufuor," he wrote.

"She carried herself with dignity and was truly recognized as the mother of the nation by the people of Ghana."

"On this sad occasion, our hearts go out to President Agyekum Kufuor's widower and the entire family." May God grant her eternal rest."

Funeral preparations are being made and will be revealed in due time, according to the family.

Meanwhile, flags remain at half-mast, as directed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The directive went into force on Monday, October 2 and is set to expire on Sunday, October 8.
