Man Who Stole Meek Mill's Phone Arrested Again For Phone Theft

Nuhu Sulley, a 33-year-old scrap dealer who was granted GH50,000 bail by an Accra Circuit Court for stealing the iPhone of American rapper Meek Mill, has been detained for another phone theft.

This time, he is accused of seizing a phone from a medical officer at Madina worth GH4,000.

Sulley appeared before the Adentan Circuit Court and pled not guilty to theft and theft conspiracy offenses.

Junior, his alleged accomplice, is currently at large. Sulley has been granted parole in the amount of GH100,000 with three sureties, and he is scheduled to return to court on July 20 as the police continue their search for the co-conspirator.

An Attorney from the Attorney General's Office opposed the release of Nuhu Sulley on bail, citing his prior charges of phone larceny against American rapper Meek Mill during a December Afro Nation concert.

The prosecution argued that releasing Sulley on bail would increase the likelihood of him perpetrating a similar crime or fleeing.

The defense attorney for Sulley characterized him as a law-abiding and peaceful member of society and stated that he had willing sureties.

The prosecution presented evidence that Sulley and his accomplice Junior seized a Huawei mobile phone valued at GH4,000 from a Madina clinical physician.

Sulley was seen sprinting away with the phone after the complainant detected a hand in his pocket. The next day, Sulley was arrested, but his resistance and alarm resulted in injuries to the complainant and witness.

In his caution statement, Sulley denied removing the phone and accused Junior of committing the crime. Sulley explained that he pursued Junior and took the phone from him. The prosecution mentioned an ongoing investigation.
