My decision to pull back from the Ayawaso West-Wuogon NDC primaries doesn’t mean that I have given up on politics – Fred Nuamah

Fred Nuamah, a Ghanaian actor and entrepreneur turned politician, has said that he intends to pursue his political goals after withdrawing from the upcoming Ayawaso West-Wuogon parliamentary primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Movie Awards shed light on his choice to pull down from the race. As a result of this decision, his close friend and acclaimed actor John Dumelo is now in the lead for the position of Best Actor.

However, Nuamah made it clear that his removal from the forefront of political activity merely indicated a brief hiatus rather than a complete suspension of his political objectives. He stated this clarification in response to a question.

"Even though I've decided not to run in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in Ayawaso West-Wuogon, it doesn't necessarily mean that I've given up on politics altogether. It just means that I'm taking a break from my political aspirations for the time being. When asked about his goals for the future, he responded, "No!"

According to him, he is dedicated to his party, and he is prepared to contribute to the political landscape in a variety of roles.

"I will serve my party and the people of Ghana in a variety of different ways and at multiple levels." "There is no need to worry about the future," he asserted with self-assurance.

Many people were taken aback on Monday, August 7, 2023 when Fred Nuamah announced that he was withdrawing from the NDC's Ayawaso West-Wuogon parliamentary election. This was especially the case given that he had been vigorously pursuing the seat earlier in the year.

The information has not only caused headlines, but it has also caused eyebrows to be raised, particularly when considering his close acquaintance with John Dumelo, who ran for the same seat in the general elections that took place before this one.

At first glance, it seemed as though their desire for political power would put a strain on their friendship.

Nevertheless, Nuamah later clarified that he had the blessing of Dumelo to win the Ayawaso West-Wuogon seat on the NDC ticket, even if Dumelo was eyeing a different district. Nuamah was referring to the fact that Dumelo was considering running for a different seat.

Despite the complex nature of the relationship between the two of them, Nuamah asserted that the fact that he would be running against Dumelo in the primary would not affect their friendship.

In a striking demonstration of solidarity, Nuamah stated, "I believe that whatever transpired has rather enhanced the link that we share. While we were on the phone together, I called my brother and told him that I fully endorse and support his candidacy for the position he is running for.

It is not simply a show of solidarity on the part of Nuamah; he has also stated that he is committed to mobilising his followers within the party to support Dumelo's campaign, which would help develop a united front for the NDC's win in the area.
