Nandom Naa Has Placed A Ban On Certain Funeral Activitie

In his traditional area, the paramount chief of Nandom Traditional Area, Naa Professor Edmund Delle, has prohibited secular music and food at funeral grounds and limited funeral activities to twenty-four hours.

On 18 February 2023, members of the Royal Team, including Naa Demepeeh Gyereh I, Ko Naa, Mr. Clemdnet Nonwaah, Gengenkpe Tengansob, and Mr. Naakpi Beyuo Poffien Tengasob, discussed the development on the radio.

The Subchiefs, Divisional Chiefs, and Tendamba have been tasked with enforcing the 11 sets of By-Laws enumerated below, with the understanding that failure to do so by 1st April 2023 will result in the sanctioning of the Divisional Chiefs involved in sabotaging the process by the Paramount Chief.

RADIO DISCUSSION OF A SINGLE-DAY FUNERAL PERFORMANCE IN THE TRADITIONAL ZONE OF NANDOM 18" 2023 FEBRUARY TEAM MEMBER

Message:- Naa Prof. Edmund Nminyem Delle Chiir VII, Paramount Chief of the Nandom Traditional Area, has instructed us to deliver the following message: Before he became Nandom Naa, the Chiefs and Tengandem approved the following bye-law regarding funeral ceremonies in the Nandom Traditional Area:
When our bodies are removed from the Nandom Mortuary, we are to lament for only one day.

The hospital is not permitted to release bodies from the morgue before 4 a.m. daily.

The burial must conclude no later than 4 p.m. that day.

You can lament the passing of a loved one without transporting the body to a mortuary. Burial as soon as the grave is prepared, but within twenty-four hours.

No eating or imbibing (including takeout and beer) is permitted on the funeral grounds. If you must consume food and drink, do so away from the cemetery.

No sales or consumption of akpeteshie are permitted on the funeral premises.

7. No Western music (dance) may be played at the funeral.

8. Do not advertise your preference for a multi-day funeral.

You can offer water and pito to mourners during the funeral.
You can sell pastries and meat at a considerable distance from the cemetery.

11. Do not get inebriated during funerals
Inform relatives living outside of Nandom about this ordinance.

13. Chiefs/Tendandem are responsible for ensuring that their people comply with this bylaw, which goes into effect on 1 April 2023.

Chiefs/Tengandem are to sanction disobedient individuals who may default.

15. The paramount Chief will punish Chiefs/Tengandem who violate this regulation.
