Festus Aboagye, a retired colonel from Ghana, has dismissed the Economic Community of West African States' (Ecowas) decision to deploy troops to crisis-stricken Niger.
The West African bloc's intention to deploy troops to Niamey to ostensibly restore constitutional order is not a secret.
Col. Aboagye (retired) asserts that the sub-regional blog's statements are propagandistic.
"It's unfortunate that some of the statements coming out are actually Ecowas propaganda, and Ecowas must not engage in propaganda," he admonishes.
He was participating in discussions regarding the two-day extraordinary meeting of the Ecowas Committee of Chiefs of Defense Staff (CCDS) in Accra.
The West African army chiefs supported a military intervention in Niger at the meeting if dialogue with the Niger junta fails.
