A one-week celebration has been planned by the family of the late, legendary Highlife artist Kwadwo Akwaboah, also known as Akwaboah Snr., to honor his incredible legacy.


Many people joined the family in remembering the one-week commemoration and expressing their sincere condolences for the death of the beloved Highlife maestro at the ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, May 30, in Trede, off the Obuasi road in the Ashanti Region.


Rex Omar, Strongman, and other prominent figures from the entertainment community attended the sorrowful occasion.

Akwaboah Jnr., the deceased Akwaboah Snr.'s son, posted images and videos from the memorial ceremony under the hashtag #AkwaboahLivesOn.

Akwaboah Snr was known for songs including “Awerekyekyere,” “Odo Bra (W’akye3),” “Opintin,” “Adesre,” etc and was celebrated as a gifted instrumentalist.

Before his passing, Akwaboah Snr. battled various health challenges, including blindness and the ailments that come with old age.

Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to preserving and promoting the essence of Highlife music, a genre deeply rooted in Ghanaian culture.
