A pregnant woman has died after stumbling into an abandoned, unfinished drain in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region's Kasoa Opeikuma.
Nana Opei Mensah II, chief of Awutu Opeikuma, revealed to Adom News that the 2019-begun Kasoa Opeikuma-Awutu Aprah road has been abandoned by the contractor due to financial constraints.
He added that the road's condition is dreadful and that the persistent rain has not helped.
To save lives, Nana Opei Mensah II urged Mavis Hawa Koomson, the member of parliament for Awutu Senya East, and President Nana Akufo-Addo to conclude the abandoned road.
Meanwhile, irate locals and motorists on the road reported that the craters are the size of manholes.
In addition, Havis Hawa Koomson, member of parliament for the Awutu Senya East constituency, stated that there are plans to terminate the contract and give over the construction to a more capable contractor.
She added that the contractors have not met the deadline he provided.
