Randy Abbey declares lack of interest in Ghana FA presidential race

Randy Abbey, a member of the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) Executive Council, has declared that he has no interest in running for president of the GFA this year.

When nominations open later this year, with the election anticipated to take place in October, Abbey, who had previously run for the vice presidential position in the 2019 elections, was rumored to advance and compete for the top position.

Abbey appears to be more concerned with keeping up his position on the Executive Council than running for president, though. He said in an interview with Asempa FM, "I'm not interested in contesting for the GFA presidential seat; it is out of the equation."
In the identical interview, Abbey revealed his concerns about the negative portrayal of Ghana in the media, emphasizing that it hinders the progress of the country. He urged the media to shift their attention towards highlighting positive aspects. “Negative reportage by the media is one problem affecting Ghana football,” he added.

This year has been particularly rewarding for Abbey, as his club, Hearts of Lions, successfully secured a return to the Ghana Premier League after an eight-year absence. He has pledged to invest in the club to ensure their competitiveness in the upcoming season.
