The most powerful tool for change is the right to vote – Mahama

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for 2024, John Dramani Mahama, is encouraging Ghanaians dissatisfied with the existing government to participate in the next limited voter registration.

"As young people, we have enormous power," he remarked.

"The Electoral Commission's upcoming limited voter registration exercise is thus an opportunity to begin the process of making your voices heard and shaping Ghana's future."

On Wednesday, September 6, the former President announced this via Facebook Live.

He decried the Akufo-Addo government's failure to solve key economic difficulties, leaving many people feeling despondent "on a scale never seen in recent memory."

However, he maintains that the freedom to vote is the most potent tool for bringing about the necessary change.

"My brothers and sisters, our youth, fellow countrymen and women, it is no secret that Ghana, our beloved country, is currently in the grip of a severe economic crisis."

"Today, more than ever before, our people's lives are defined by a daily struggle to make ends meet." Our daily costs of living are skyrocketing, and job prospects are becoming increasingly scarce."

"This dire situation calls for immediate action," he said later, "and the most powerful tool at our disposal is our right to vote."

As a result, the former President asked all eligible voters to register in order to vote on December 7, 2024.

The limited voter registration period will run from Tuesday, September 12 to Monday, October 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.
