All about Freda Oheneafrewo Prempeh ( New Sanitation Minister)

Freda Akosua Oheneafrewo Prempeh, born on 23 January 1966, is a Ghanaian politician who represents the Tano North Constituency in Ghana's Ahafo Region in the Seventh and Eighth Parliaments of the fourth republic of Ghana.

She is the current Minister of State for Ghana's Ministry of Works and Housing.

She previously served as the Deputy Minister for Gender Affairs and Assembly member – 'Assembly Woman' – for the Lakoo Electoral Area of the La-Dadekotopo Constituency in the Greater Accra Region from 2002 to 2010.[4]

In 2017, she was designated chairperson of an eleven-member local organising committee charged with coordinating the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations.

Early years and instruction

She was born to a Ghanaian Royal family in Accra on January 23, 1966. She is the third daughter of the late Ohenenana Akwasi Agyeman Dua-Prempeh, of the Ashanti Royal Family, and the late Nana Amma Serwaa, Kontihemaa of Duayaw Nkwanta (also known as Madam Georgina Ansah in her private life).

Freda received her elementary education at University Primary School, Kumasi, her Ordinary (O) level education at Technology Secondary School (now KNUST Senior High School) in Kumasi, Ghana, and her Advanced level Certificate (A level) education at Accra Workers College in Accra, Ghana.

She subsequently attended the Ghana Institute of Journalism to earn a Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising. In 1998, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration certified her as a Certified Public Accountant.

She holds a Certificate and an Advanced Certificate in Marketing, as well as a DipM, MCIM, and a Chartered Marketer Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, all from the United Kingdom's Chartered Institute of Marketing. In 2006, she graduated from the University of Ghana with a Bachelor of Science in (Business Administration) Human Resource Management Option. She has a master's degree in communications, media, and public relations from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom and a doctorate in business administration from the Ghana Technology University College.

Personal sphere

Freda Akosua Prempeh is a native of Duayaw Nkwanta, the capital of her parliamentary constituency in Ghana's Ahafo Region, Tano North. She is Christian, married, and has a son.

Freda nearly perished in the Accra flood and fire disaster on June 3, 2015.


Prior to her election as a member of parliament in 2013, Freda worked as a manager at the Point Four Hotel in Sunyani and also spent ten years with the Prison Service. She is an athletics enthusiast and a firm believer in women's abilities.
