FBI investigates Cecilia Dapaah

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States of America have jointly initiated inquiries into the conduct of former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, and her associates.

As per a recent statement posted on 'X', previously known as Twitter, the OSP stated that their investigations primarily center around examining the assets and financial transactions of Ms. Dapaah and her associates within the United States.

The combined efforts of the OSP and the FBI are directed towards establishing the legality of the wealth held by Ms. Dapaah and her associates, including funds moving between Ghana and the United States.

Ms. Dapaah came under public scrutiny in July when it emerged that two of her domestic staff members were accused of embezzling substantial amounts of money and valuable items, totaling millions of Ghana Cedis. In response to significant public pressure, she resigned from her position on July 22, 2023.

In the interim, the former Sanitation Minister has filed an application for an interlocutory injunction against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in an attempt to halt the Office's investigation and prosecution of both her and her husband, Daniel Osei Kufuor, on charges related to suspected corruption and corruption-related offenses.
