Ghana cannot host any CAF inter-club semifinal match This season

Ameenu Shardow, the General Manager of Dreams FC, stated that none of the stadiums in Ghana would meet the requirements for hosting a semifinal game in the CAF Inter-club competition this season if the two teams qualify. This statement follows concerns about the condition of the Accra Sports Stadium, which is Dreams FC's home venue in the CAF Confederation Cup. The pitch has been criticized for its lack of maintenance by the National Sports Authority, particularly after the Ghana vs. Liberia international friendly on September 12. Shardow, who also serves as the team manager for the Ghana national team, expressed his worries about the current state of various stadiums in Ghana, including the Accra Sports Stadium, Cape Coast Sports Stadium, and the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. He pointed out that these venues do not currently meet the stringent standards required for hosting high-profile matches according to CAF licensing requirements. During a discussion on the state of the pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium, Shardow emphasized that there is currently no stadium in the country capable of hosting any CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup match in its current state. His remarks were made on Citi FM's Sports Panorama show, underlining the urgent need for stadium upgrades and maintenance to ensure compliance with CAF standards. Dreams FC won the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup 2-1 against Sierra Leonean counterparts FC Kallon at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ameenu Shardow is optimistic about the team's chances of securing qualification in the second leg to advance to the group stage of the tournament.
