Judge warns Aisha Huang not to cry again in the court

Aisha Huang, the Chinese Galamsey Queen, was issued a stern warning by the High Court judge presiding over her galamsey trial.

At the most recent adjourned date, the media was flooded with reports of Aisha Huang weeping during her cross-examination.

When confronted with the allegation that she knowingly re-entered Ghana despite her deportation on Monday, July 24, she again became visibly emotive and broke down in tears.

This time, however, the trial judge Lydia Osei Marfo, who appeared to have had enough of Aisha Huang's emotional outbursts, cautioned her against future emotional outbursts.

"Stop interrupting with your weeping. It does not affect me in any way. The query is harmless; simply respond and continue. Today should be your final opportunity to weep in my court. If you wish to weep, do so in incarceration before appearing in my court. If she cries again, it will be on purpose. So, I do not anticipate that she will weep again," said Justice Lydia Osei Marfo.

The court continued with the cross-examination after she ceased speaking.

Following her return to Ghana and alleged participation in unlawful mining operations (galamsey), Aisha Huang is facing charges at the Accra High Court.

Four allegations have been filed against her: illegally entering the country while prohibited from doing so, conducting a mining operation without a licence, facilitating the participation of individuals in a mining operation, and illegally employing foreigners.

She pleaded not guilty to three charges, excluding unlawful entry into the country. She was subsequently convicted of the aforementioned allegation.
