Mahama speaks on Cecilia Dapaah keeping millions of Dollars, Euros in hard currency at home

After one of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's appointees was reported to have kept millions of Dollars and thousands of Euros in hard currency at home, former President John Dramani Mahama came down hard on him for not setting a good example with his appointees.

Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the minister of sanitation and water resources, allegedly stashed away $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis in her residence.

Two housemaids are on trial in an Accra circuit court for the theft of these funds.

Mr. Mahama took to Twitter on Friday, July 21 after the news broke to express his outrage at the behaviour of a minister of state.

He called it "scandalous" in his assessment.

In a tweet, he pondered, "Even if genuinely acquired, why keep millions of hard currency at home?"

However, he challenged the President for such a failure on the part of his government.
