Phase to of Ghana Card Registration to Begin

Due to an incredibly low turnout, Phase I of the Ghana Card Registration process, which was only open to first-time applicants who are Public Sector Workers on the Government of Ghana (GoG) Payroll, has concluded, according to the National Identification Authority (NIA).

Phase I of the exercise was supposed to last for ten (10) days, from August 28 to September 8, 2023, but the NIA was forced to shorten it because the participants who were supposed to arrive and register failed to do so.

Based on information from the Controller and Accountant General's Department, which predicted that between 250,000 and 260,000 Public Sector Employees on GoG Payroll would participate in Phase I, it was decided to allocate ten (10) days for that phase.

Phase II starts.

On Monday, September 4, 2023, Phase II of the registration process will start. This is done to ensure the effective and efficient use of public resources as well as the accessibility of NIA's services to other members of the public.

Therefore, Phase II of the Ghana Card Registration operation will start on Monday, September 4, 2023, and all Ghanaians aged 15 and over are entitled to register for the Ghana Card free of charge as first-time applicants at any of the NIA's 276 District Offices around the nation. The NIA Regional Offices in Accra, Bolgatanga, Cape Coast, Dambai, Damongo, Goaso, Nalerigu, and Wa also provide this free registration service, according to an NIA release.
