"Stay Alert, Reject Candidates Spreading Bitterness and Anger," Samira Urges NPP Delegates

The Second Lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia, is urging New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to vote against candidates pushing the party towards opposition. Speaking in the Amansie East of the Ashanti Region to express gratitude for supporting her husband, Mrs. Bawumia cautioned against the repercussions of losing power and encouraged unity and focus on retaining power in the 2024 election.

She emphasized the significance of the upcoming election for the party and emphasized the need for a united front. Mrs. Bawumia expressed concern about candidates campaigning with bitterness and anger, advising party members to be wary and not align with such sentiments.

She questioned whether transitioning to opposition would benefit anyone, including those advocating for such a move.

Mrs. Bawumia challenged the feasibility of gaining benefits or having access to resources if the party were to move into opposition. She highlighted the contrast between those advocating for opposition, who may be content, and the potential challenges that other party members may face.

The NPP has scheduled November 4, 2023, for the election of a successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the party's leader. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is among the contenders for the flagbearership slot, alongside Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and former MP for Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh.

Mrs. Bawumia urged party members to remain vigilant, stand united, and support the candidate they believe can secure victory in the 2024 elections.
