Agrisolve Ghana launches 2023 farming season in Northern Ghana

An agriculture-based Non Governmental Organization (NGOs) Agrisolve Ghana has launched the 2023 farming season in five (5) regions of the North in Tamale.

The 2023 season launch was under the theme “Right Input, Right Time, Right application” and highlighted the need to improve access to high-quality agricultural inputs and services which is key to increasing agricultural productivity and addressing food security challenges.

The season launch was organized to prepare farmers against the uncertainties in Agriculture production, largely due to Climate change.
Farmers were introduced to the new season and were educated on the best agriculture practices including when to begin farming, how to use agro chemicals among others.
The Tamale Metropolitan Director of Agriculture, Mr Francis Koo advised farmers in the region to always ensure they begin their crop farming before July.

He explained that “if you plough your field after July, even in the middle of July, you won’t harvest anything”.
Mr Francis also advised farmers to bury all types of fertilizers, noting that it was the best and most effective way to ensure good yields.
He commended Agrisolve for the initiative, saying that it would go a long way to improve agriculture productivity in Northern Ghana.

The Executive Director of Agrisolve, Elorm Goh said her organization had opened 20 strategically located Green Connect Centers across Northern Ghana where farmers could access agricultural inputs, machinery services, training and also serve as a market-place for agricultural produce.

She said these centers where located in places including Yendi, Bimbilla and Gushegu in the Northern Region, in Sankpala in the Savannah Region and Jeffisi, Klufuo and Goripie in the Upper West Region.

Madam Elorm said “Agrisolve is strategically positioned to provide its integrated farm improvement programs to the farmers. Inputs assist seeks to ensure access to quality inputs and all season availability and variety of inputs as increase the distribution channels for inputs and farmer essentials, the major inputs includes fertilizers, maize, soya seeds, maize seeds, rice seeds, crop protections product and relief simple tools such as, Nabsacks, planters, seeders for the farmers”.

Over 10,000 farmers are expected to benefit from the Green Connect Centers across Northern Ghana.
