Bawumia did no wrong, let's stop politicizing development issues - Zosimli Naa II

The Zosimli Naa of Dagbon, Ife Bell Tipagya has charged the people of Northern region and Ghana at large to stop politicizing development issues of the area.

Instead the Zosimli Naa wants the people of the area to channel their energy towards positive and constructive change.

The Zosimli Naa’s comments come in the wake of controversies surrounding the auctioning of a container full of Medical Equipment worth over $400,000 for some hospitals in the Northern Region by authorities of the Tema Port.

Zosimli Naa II who is administering the Tamale-Louisville sister city relationship was shipping in the medical equipment to donate to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, the Tamale Central and Tamale West Hospitals among others.

The container was allegedly auctioned after the palace was unable to clear it on time.

Explaining how the container was auctioned, the palace said it engaged stakeholders including the Vice President to help secure a tax waiver for the clearance of the goods, however it added that all efforts were unsuccessful.

The Northern Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) while addressing a press conference over the matter accused Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of doing little to clear the container for the palace, adding that he lacked commitment to the development of the Northern Region.
However, the Zosimli Naa absolved the Vice President of any wrongdoing in the matter.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Zosimli Naa said that even though she was in the company of the Northern Regional Minister when she visited the Vice President, their visit was not because of the container.

“Our visit to the office of H.E. Vice President Dr. Bawumia, accompanied by the Hon. Regional Minister, was part of the customary process involving a courtesy call for a formal introduction. It’s important to note that the primary purpose of this visit was not centered around the container issue.”

She added that “any claims suggesting that Alhaji King Faisal Adam or any other individual or private entity that diverted the container are not true”.

“As the Zosimli Naa of the Northern Region and the esteemed Dagbon Kingdom, I appeal to His Royal Majesty the Yaa-Naa, chiefs, opinion leaders, civic leaders, religious leaders, community leaders, well-meaning citizens of Ghana and the diaspora community to channel this energy towards positive constructive change and refrain from politicizing our development efforts.” She noted.
