NDC boys ‘beat’ Deputy General Secretary in Tamale

Some angry youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) claiming to be supporters of the Tamale South MP, Haruna Iddrisu on Wednesday evening attacked and physically assaulted the Deputy General Secretary of the party in Tamale.

Mustapha Gbande was attacked at Tamale-based Radio Tamale where he had an interview to explain the reasons behind the removal of Mr Iddrisu as Minority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament.

Mr. Gbande during the interview gave the indication that Mr Iddrisu’s removal was for good reasons, though some persons within the party including himself were not comfortable about it.

According to him, the NDC with so much human resource in all areas, can call upon any qualified member at anytime to help build the party or lead it to victory in 2024.

He called on all party supporters to have confidence in the leadership when it comes to decision making and commitment towards the party growth.

His explanation did not seem to make meaning to the angry youth who stormed the radio station’s studios at Lamashegu to attack the Deputy Chief Scribe of the party.

“A group of Haruna supporters, who were not happy listening to the responses and reasons given by the deputy secretary, besieged the radio station attempting to assault him while the discussion was still ongoing but [were] prevented.” Radio Tamale posted on its official Facebook page.
After the programme, Mr Gbande was attacked and assaulted before being whisked away.
“They physically attacked him outside the studios of the radio station after the program with accompanying slaps and insults, as he was whisked into his vehicle.” The station said.
