NPP has lost the battle of the economy, only religious and tribal game can win us 2024- Former MP

A Former Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency, Ayeh-Paye Samuel has said that the governing New Patriotic Party has failed to make Ghana’s economy better and cannot campaign on same grounds to win Election 2024.

The party, according to him, only has religious and tribal game to play if it wants to retain power.

“We have already lost the battle of the economy. What we have left is a religious and tribal game, if you don’t have that to our favour then we are finished,” Ayeh-Paye who holds himself as the Eastern Regional Campaign Director of NPP Flagbearer Aspirant, Alan Kyeremanten, told one NPP delegate in a leaked WhatsApp conversation.

He was allegedly convincing NPP delegates to vote against Dr Mahamudu Bawumia because he is a Muslim and comes from the Northern part of the country.
In those chats leaked on Social Media, Mr Ayeh-Paye is seen convincing delegates not to think of voting for the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia because he is a Muslim and does not belong to the majority religious group in the country.

He claimed the Vice President will lose the Presidential Election in 2024 if he is made the party Flagbearer because the election will be based on religious grounds.

His comments have been widely condemned by netizens, with many saying such comments have the tender to plunge the country into religious and ethnic conflicts.
