Tamale South: NPP delegates mob Fooshegu Assemblyman as he submits nomination forms

Hundreds of New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Tamale South Constituency on Saturday mobbed the Assembly Member of the Fooshegu Electoral Area, Ibrahim Baba when he went to submit his nomination forms to contest the NPP’s Parliamentary primaries later this year.

Many of the delegates who were mainly polling station executives of the party hailed the Aspirant as a grassroots person who has been working tirelessly for the progress of the party in the constituency.
They said that through his efforts, the NPP was able to win at the polling station he voted in the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, the only ballot box the party won in the constituency.
The Tamale South Constituency is considered to be one of the ‘world banks’ of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu has won heavily in every election since 2004.
However, Campaign Coordinator for Ibrahim Baba, Danjuma Yushawu who himself is a delegate of the party told journalists that they are convinced that Mr Baba would snatch the seat for the NPP in the 2024 Elections due to his popularity and hard work in the constituency.
He said that even though Mr Iddrisu is a powerful MP, the Assembly Member would be the best candidate to convincingly beat him in the election.
The Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate, Mr Baba told the media that he was sure he would be able to beat Mr Iddrisu because he was more popular than the NDC MP.
He said the constituency was bedeviled with numerous challenges, hence his focus would be to addressing the development needs of the people when given the mandate.
He appealed to delegates to vote massively for him to ensure he is able to deliver the seat for the party in the general elections.
