The National President of the Union of Professional Nurses and Midwives (UPNMG), Maxwell Oduro Yeboah has called on government to find a lasting solution to the exodus of Ghanaian Health Professionals to Europe and other parts of the world for greener pastures.
According to him, most nurses and midwives are leaving the country because of the poor conditions of service.
Mr Oduro said it was therefore important for government to review the conditions of service of nurses and midwives in order to halt the trend.
He was speaking at the first Northern Regional council meeting in Tamale over the weekend.
Mr Oduro said the union was looking at offering entrepreneurship education to its members to empower them to be able to have sustainable side jobs that can employ people.
This he noted would better position members of the association as self sufficient.
The union was established in 2017 and currently has over 15,000 members nationwide.
