1984 Alumni of Adweso SDA Basic School Donates to School

The 1984 year group of Adweso SDA Basic School at Koforidua in the Eastern region has donated sets of Sports Kits to its alma mater.

The donated items includes sets of jerseys for both male and female , footballs , socks and many others.

Additionally, the group also presented an undisclosed cash amount to a retired teacher of the school Dr. Opoku Bawuah whom they described as outstanding teacher to have impacted their basic education positively.

The Headmistress of Adweso SDA Basic School Madam Shiela Oye Larbi received the donated items on behalf of the school and admonished that alumni of the various schools across the country should emulate the gesture and contribute their quota as stakeholders of education to support their alma mater to complement and help reduce the overburden of educational needs on government.

Madam Shiela Oye Larbi said " educational needs are of different forms so the responsibility should not be push on government alone since government alone cannot do it , government needs the support of all stakeholders such as parents, teachers, school alumni and education officers".

According to her there are more blessings in return when people voluntarily give back to their alma mater in support of the needs of students or children.

The Chairman of the 1984 year alumni group of Adweso SDA Basic School Mr. Mark Robertson explained the motive behind the gesture and further urged teachers to nurture and train students as their own children and refrain from acts which has the tendency of discouraging students and not have interest in education.

He also highlighted that , even though basic and senior high education has been made free by government parents should contribute their part effectively to support government's effort for the well-being and benefit of their children.

Meanwhile , the retired teacher Dr. Opoku Bawuah who was honoured by the 1984 year group with an undisclosed cash amount was enthused with the gesture of the group.

He however advised teachers to be commitment to the teaching profession through hard work and perseverance to leave a mark which will positively influence the children in the long run.
