AMEA FOUNDATIONS SECURES HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT FROM GMHED - HSS, USA FOR ST. THERESA'S HOSPITAL

AMEA Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Nkoranza marked the New Year with a donation of eight (8) laryngoscopes and other airway management equipment to St. Theresa’s Hospital within the Nkoranza Municipality to improve intubation in difficult airway situations.

In November 2022, a team from Global Musculoskeletal Health Equity Division GMHED, Hospital for Special Surgery HSS based in the US paid a visit to the St. Theresa's Hospital to assess possible ways of supporting the Hospital to provide improved healthcare to the people of Nkoranza and its surroundings. This was after the Executive Director of AMEA Foundation, Mrs. Harriet Kyeremanteng Oppong had made a passionate appeal to them to provide the facility with professional and logistic support.

During their visit, a special appeal was made by the Head of Anesthesia, Heldata Abdul-Karim to the team to support the Hospital with basic equipments to manage emergency difficult airways situations since the inadequacy or lack of those necessities pose a threat to safe anesthesia practices in the municipality.



The team from US was led by Drs. Mark Brouillette, Co-chair and Alfred Aidoo of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi who is also the Director of Programs for GMHED, HSS in Ghana.



In an interview with journalist, the Head of Anesthesia indicated that the equipment will help the hospital to render better care to clients and the community at large. She further expressed her profound gratitude to the Executive Director of AMEA Foundation, Mrs. Harriet Oppong and GMHED, HSS Team in the USA for honoring their promise.



The GMHED, HSS Team is a group of Medical Doctors in the United State of America with a vision to champion quality healthcare. They have over the years established a very cordial relationship with Ghana, and usually collaborate with their local counterparts to provide lasting solution to challenges facing health sector in Ghana.
