Bredi No.1 wins 1st edition of Harriet's Sala Gala in Nkoranza South



In a heartwarming display of unity and community spirit, the Nkoranza South Constituency came alive over the weekend as Harriet Oppong, a devoted member of the community, organized the much-anticipated Eid ul-Adha Idir Games. The event, held at the picturesque Nkoranza Roman Park, brought together 35 teams representing all 29 Electoral Areas of the constituency, with some areas even fielding multiple teams due to their large size.

The festive atmosphere was permeated with the true essence of Eid ul-Adha, a celebration that highlights the virtue of sacrifice. As the teams showcased their skills and sportsmanship, the spirit of togetherness and camaraderie filled the air. Scouts from across Ghana flocked to the event, eager to witness the talent and potential hidden within the Nkoranza community.

Former football legends, including Isaac Amoako, a renowned goalkeeper of Asante Kotoko, Daniel Bomfah, a revered figure from the same club, Kofi Abanga, a former player for Hearts of Oak, and Samuel Manu, aka BA/BA (formerly of BA United & Asante Kotoko), all graced the occasion, offering their expertise and support to the organizers. Their presence added a touch of prestige and excitement to an already unforgettable day.

The games reached a thrilling climax as the four outstanding teams, Bredi No. 1, Adehyeman, Bredi No. 2, and Sessiman, advanced to the semi-finals. The crowd held their breath as each team demonstrated their skill, determination, and unwavering teamwork. In the end, Bredi No. 1 emerged victorious, capturing the ultimate prize, while Sessiman secured an impressive second place. Adehyeman claimed the well-deserved third position, and Bredi No. 2 left their mark by finishing fourth.

To recognize the exceptional performances of both teams and individual players, awards in the form of trophies were presented to Bredi No. 1 for emerging Champions of the tournament. Dino and Morrison of Adehyeman received individual awards for being the Goal King and Best Player, respectively. Also, Opoku Sarpong of Bredi No. 1 was honored as the Best Goalkeeper and received a pair of Football Gloves. In addition, all registered participating teams were provided with jerseys to commemorate their participation in this memorable event.

The Eid ul-Adha Idir Games were not only about sports but also served as a platform for the community to come together and foster unity. Distinguished guests, including Oheneba Adjei Baffoe, Ankobeahene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Alhaji Osman Yeboah, Chief Imam of Nkoranza Municipality, Nana Bright and Nana Kwaagyei of Bredi, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah (MP for Techiman South & Deputy Minister of Local Government & Rural Development), Mr. Thomas Adu Appiah (aka Chairman TOMA), former NPP Regional Chairman of Bono East, Mr. Isaac Affum, Nkoranza South NPP Constituency Secretary, Electoral Area Coordinators, and Polling Station Executives, graced the occasion with their presence.

During the celebrations, Mrs. Harriet Kyeremanteng Oppong, the driving force behind this magnificent event, used her platform to deliver a powerful message of forgiveness, giving, sharing, and caring, all central tenets of Eid ul-Adha. She urged the community to stand united and support the development of Nkoranza, emphasizing the significance of collective effort in creating a brighter future for all.

The Eid ul-Adha Idir Games will forever be etched in the memories of the Nkoranza community. The gala is the first biggest league ever serving as a testament to the power of unity, sportsmanship, and the true spirit of sacrifice. This remarkable event not only showcased exceptional athletic talent but also brought people together in a celebration of togetherness, friendship, and the values that make Nkoranza a truly special pIace.
