Some aggrieved members of the National Democratic Congress, NDC made up of aspirants in the Atiwa West Constituency of the Eastern Region are calling on the Functional Executive Committee of the party to uphold their earlier decision to annul the constituency elections which were conducted under strange circumstances to ensure that, there is fairness and peace.
According to the aggrieved members any attempt to uphold the annulment decision will affect the fortunes of the party, going into the 2024 general elections.
According to the aggrieved members the constituency elections was allegedly conducted in the absence of staff of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, without supervision of the regional elections committee and also conducted despite a court injunction secured by the aggrieved members for the elections to be put on hold. They added that, any attempt to uphold the annulment decision of the party will affect the fortunes of the party going into 2024 elections.
The spokesperson for the aggrieved members Julius Caesar Gafili called for a new date to be announced for the elections in constituency.
