*History of Abonse*
Abonse is a historical town situated in the Okere District, southwest of Yilo Krobo District in the Eastern Region off the main Assesseso-Somanya Road close to Agomeda.

Slaves used to be sold at Abonse decades ago, the People of Abonse had to relocate several times over the years to the current settlement due to the slave trade activities, however, the archaeological findings in the area suggest how active and busy the slave market used to be and is evident at the heart of the Abonse township.

Abonse has been existing for over 700 years making it one of the oldest towns in Akuapem and Ghana as a whole.
